• ⅔ cup plain flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup (110g) butter, melted
  • ½ cup cocoa
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • ¾ teaspoon vanilla


Mix or sift flour and baking powder into a jug or bowl.

In a mixing bowl, mix cocoa and melted butter.

Add and beat sugar, eggs and vanilla essence.  Mix in the flour and baking powder.  Spread half of batter in a greased 20cm square pan. 

Cheesecake filling

  • 250g packet cream cheese, softened
  • ⅓ cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla essence.

In a bowl, mix all cheesecake filling ingredients together (add a dash of milk if too thick). Pour mixture over chocolate batter in pan.

Spoon remaining chocolate batter over (again, add milk if too thick).Pull a knife through both batters to create a marbled effect.


Bake at 180C for 40 minutes.  Cool, then cut into squares.  


Great warm with cream and ice-cream.
