Cake Ingredients
- 150g butter
- ⅔ cup caster sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence or lemon essence
- 4 eggs
- 250g self raising flour
- 1kg apples ~peeled and sliced
- pinch of salt
Crumble Topping
- 150g plain flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- ⅔ cup caster sugar
- 100g butter
- 1-2 teaspoons cinamon
Instructions
- Pre line either a spring from tin, cake or slice tin.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the butter, sugar and vanilla/lemon essence till light and creamy. Add the eggs one by one. Next add the flour and salt, and mix thoroughly
- Spread the cake mixture evenly over the base of the cake tin.
- Cover with sliced apples (press these down slightly into the cake).
- Make the crumble, by either placing all ingredients into a mixer or rub ingredients together by hand with your fingers.
- Spread this evenly over the apples and place into a 200C oven for about 40 minutes.
- Place skewer through cake (which should come out clean) to determine whether ready or not.
