Thinking of bumping off your spouse?

What is the most common phrase that gets thrown at parents of large families…no it is not “don’t you have a television“(that’s the second one). It is “wow you must have your hands full“; those of you with a large family are probably nodding their heads. If I recorded the number of times this has been said to me, I probably would have pages and pages of tallied up totals.

Caring for a large family may appear daunting to an outsider and even to a relative, and if one has never had the opportunity to baby-sit or be involved in looking after a large family it may seem very frightening indeed.

As a mother of 7; life can be pretty challenging and at times hectic.  Along with cooking meals, washing, chores, errands, appointments, homework, (the regular household duties), there is also the burdens of day to day living expenses too.

Illnesses and health issues occur often in a large family at any time ~ the dreaded vomiting and gastro bug can sweep though a home like cyclone or flood waters, as a parent we are focused on providing the best care for each member of the family whether it be with education or their health.

Parents put their children’s health first. Mothers in particular soldier on even when they are grievously ill.  And if dad is grievously ill (I am not talking about “man flu”), it could lead to time off work and a lack of income.

Our lives are precious, we worry about our children’s health; but do we honestly think of our own?  We insure our homes, our cars, our holidays, but not our lives. Who thinks about life insurance (unless you are tempted in bumping off your husband)?  This is just another expense we don’t need right or would you be worried if your husband took out a life insurance policy on you?

Over the past 14 years my husband had travelled with work to all corners of the globe.  His companies offered him life insurance and he use to say to me, “if I don’t return from this trip, you have $$$ if I die”, not exactly a nice conversation  to have before each of his departures ~ (while holding back the tears as my husband and the children’s father leaves for months on end) however thinking about that now, what would have I done if he hadn’t returned?  I can not easily return to the work force ~ and who is going to look after my children?

After writing the above and thinking about what I have written (not the bumping off the husband part).  “Life insurance is important and needs looking into, hence visit the life insurance calculator from Life Insurance Finder and then compare life insurance plans to find the right option for you..”

I am participating in the LIFE Awareness campaign. I received a VISA gift card for this post courtesy of Life Insurance Finder via Digital Parents Collective. I am also in the running to win an iPad3. As always, all opinions are purely my own.
