DIY UNDERWEAR & SOCK HANGERS

Need extra hanging space on your line?  Do you find it time consuming hanging all the socks and underwear on the outside line?

Take a look at this clever way to hang underwear and socks on your clothes line. These hanging systems are stronger than those plastic ones you find at cheap Chinese variety stores.

They are also great for matching pairs of socks if hung by the toes and once dry, socks can easily be rolled together while still on the peg, then removed and put directly into the folding piles.

What you need:

  • 2 x  metal coat hangers
  • 8 x scooby strings
  • 16 clothes pegs
  • Scissors
  • Pliers
To make, place the hangers at right angles crossing them in the centre.  Twist the two handles together with some pliers.  Use a scoobie or string to tie the middle hangers together.

Take each scoobies strand, fold them in half and cut them at the centre fold to make two pieces from each strand.

Join the ends and tie with a knot. Form a loop by placing it through the peg opening to make a loop knot (this is called a cow-hitch knot apparently)..

Next do the same cow hitch knot over the coat hangers with 4 pegs are hanging off on each cross bar.
